I have been licensed for 32 years.
I relocated to Salon L in March 2008 from Orinda where I had worked for 6 years.
I have been in the professional beauty industry for more than 32 years. In 1972, I graduated from beauty school in Kiev, Ukraine. After that, I worked in the finest salons of the capital city. In 1980, I graduated with honors from a two-year hair design school. In addition, my background includes intensive training in Wella color as well as razor-cut techniques. I also have experience as a stage stylist.
15 years ago my family and I immigrated to the USA. My travels through Europe and experience in Italy enabled me to quickly receive my California Cosmetology License. I worked in downtown San Francisco for about a year after our arrival before relocating to Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, where I worked for 8 years and, subsequently, in Orinda for 6 years. Inside, I still consider myself a student. I attend leading-edge professional seminars and workshops to obtain accreditations from premier programs in our industry.

I was the official presenter for Schwartzkopff at the 19th annual IHE show where I showcased their design on stage in front of a 700-person audience. I am a master colorist and also specialize in up-dos for special occasions.
In my creative business, I always incorporate the latest technology and newest products on the market. I work exclusively with ammonia- and damage-free products. The lightening cream which I utilize for highlights is based on natural vegetable protein and chamomile extracts. For highlighting, I use special paper in place of traditional foil, which keeps the hair shiny and healthy. As part of every service, I provide my clients with an extensive consultation on upkeep, appropriate products and styling tricks to keep color and style looking their best.
This wide range of skills makes me an enthusiast for my profession and I bring much skill and personal experience to the beauty industry. I personalize color to match the client’s lifestyle and character. My motto: Great haircolor becomes a part of the person who is wearing it! I invite you to be my client.

My name is Chris Stein.
I specialize in all phases of hairstyling, with a particular interest in makeovers that involve enhanced color and trendy cutting techniques to maintain my clients’ everlasting fresh look.
My formal education in cosmetology started in 2005 at Deloux Beauty College in Clayton, California. Upon graduating, I was invited back to Deloux as an instructor. I have trained under Luda Kaminski, Logics Color Educator and IHE presenter. I have been on stage with numerous renowned stylists including European Champion, Philip Wilson. Continuing educ ation is
a constant venture with me since my profession changes each year and with the seasons. That is why I attend stage classes every year at annual beauty expos.
I believe in the healthy hair concept. All my products are organic and ammonia-free. I regularly use soy-based products to protect your hair and leave it silky and shiny. I also do regular root treatments to nourish the hair at the source and develop a strong base for any style.
On a personal level, I am a car fanatic. I am also active, fun-loving and enjoy meeting new people. I’m easy going and I’m told that I am very easy to get along with.
